Diamond Elementary
As the drama teacher at Diamond Elementary in Surrey, BC, I was responsible for teaching multiple grade levels from Kindergarten to Grade 7. For part of the school year, lessons focused on experiential and play-based drama exercises, while the latter part of the year centered on a full-school production. During my second year at Diamond, I wrote an original script that was performed by all students from K-7.
Simon Fraser University
I completed my Masters in Education in Arts Education at Simon Fraser University from 2010 – 2012. This program included classes such as “Artists, Society and Arts Education” and “Music Education and Thinking in Sound”. Not only did this program cover a wide range of artistic disciplines, but it also focused on the general concept of teaching through an artistic lense.
Note: A full page on this website will be devoted to my MEd. Stay tuned!
Theatre St. Thomas/ Valley young Company
Performing in amateur productions with these two companies were some of my most memorable experiences in theatre, and shaped my understanding of performance. The shows I performed in are mentioned in the About section.
Theatre New Brunswick Theatre School/ Calithumpians
I worked with these two companies for a summer each as a university student. Both experiences solidified my passion for theatre education.
Broadway’s Best
Broadway’s Best began as a March break theatre camp for elementary students run by a group of high school theatre students. We continued this program for many summers, and eventually my husband Patrick Connolly and I developed it into a full-summer theatre school. We also had the opportunity to run a week-long program in Woodstock, New Brunswick in 2011.
